1. Maintenance instruction

AUDI A3 of the class "compact" was presented on the market in June, 1996.

With a length of 4.15 m and a track of 2.51 m, 3-door A3 provides necessary comfort. The luggage carrier has the volume of 350 l, after tilting of a back of a back seat the capacity of a luggage carrier increases up to 1100 l.

The car is equipped with various security aids. Safety cushions of the driver and the forward passenger, and also a side safety cushion (since 1997 release) and natyazhitel of seat belts of front seats concern to them. The side amplifiers of a body who are available in the doorway in addition increase passive safety.

The body is completely galvanized. The ten-year guarantee of lack of corrosion is provided. For optimization of weight of the car some of its elements are made of aluminum. Amplifiers in the doorway or beams in bumpers treat them, for example.

Increase in comfort at the movement is promoted by a stretcher to which the forward suspension bracket fastens. The stretcher is disconnected through rubber support from a body and thanks to it damps fluctuations which otherwise are transferred to salon. At models with the forward drive the back suspension bracket with levers and a connecting beam which for more favorable use of volume has screw springs and shock-absorbers is applied are located separately from each other (at the previous model depreciation racks were applied). Thanks to it it was succeeded to increase aperture width for placement of freight in a luggage carrier.
The all-wheel drive model has a back suspension bracket with dual cross levers.

Both petrol, and diesel engines of various power can be installed in the car that allows to make the corresponding choice depending on the economic or sports nature of driving of the owner. In the present manual the description of all power units is given.

In the management models with line four-cylinder petrol engines of 1.6 l (AEH), 1.8 l (AGN, AGU, AQA, AJQ, APY) and diesel engines of 1.9 l (AGR, ALH, AHF, ASZ), front-wheel and with the four-wheel drive, release since 1997 are considered.

Engines settle down in a motive compartment cross and are suspended on a so-called pendular support which reduces vibrations of the car in power setting on single turns.

The 4-lever independent forward suspension bracket with the established depreciation racks practically excludes influence of operation of the engine on process of management of the car. At cars with the forward drive the compound lever of a back axis is used that allows to place optimum independently from each other screw springs and shock-absorbers of a suspension bracket. The model with the four-wheel drive has a back suspension bracket with dual levers.

The five-step manual box of gear shifting (MBGS), or four - or the five-step automatic transmission (AT) can be installed in the car.
