2.5. Replacement of motive oil and oil filter
ATTENTION The long contact of skin with the fulfilled motive oil is quite dangerous. Use protective cream and put on gloves during this procedure. Replace the clothes which became impregnated with oil immediately.
Frequent replacement of motive oil is the main preventive procedure of service, to the available amateur mechanic. Eventually oil is subject to fluidifying and pollution that leads to premature wear of the engine.
Motive oil can be extorted by means of the special probe (is available at gas stations) through a tube of the probe of measurement of level of oil. After that it is necessary to fill system with oil, as a rule.
Do not pour out the fulfilled oil together with household waste or otherwise. It can cause environmental pollution.
Expediently when replacing oil to fix on the engine a label with brand of oil and its viscosity.
Use of oils of various types adversely affects operation of the engine. It is not recommended to mix various brands of oils also. Motive oils of the same type and brand, but various viscosity in necessary cases, in particular in off-season, can mix up.

Necessary tool: · A viewing ditch or the hydroelevator with supports (if oil is not sucked away).
· A head for an otvorachivaniye of a drain stopper.
· The special tool for a filter otvorachivaniye (a key for the filter. Tape key or HAZET 2171-1 tool).
· Capacity for collecting oil (if oil is not sucked away) with a capacity not less than 5 l.
Necessary spare parts and expendables: · Only if oil is not sucked away: an aluminum or copper sealing ring for a drain stopper (are sometimes delivered together with an oil filter).
· Oil filter. The boss of an oil filter and two sealing rings of a cover of the filter are necessary for the diesel engine.
· About 4.5 l of motive oil. Apply the oil resolved by AUDI, address Specifications.

| 1. Diesel engine: turn off bolts of fastening and uncover the case of an oil filter. After that oil will flow out from the filter case in the oil pallet. | | 2. Substitute under the case pallet capacity for collecting the fulfilled oil. |
| 6. Turn out a drain stopper from the case pallet and completely merge oil. |
ATTENTION If in the fulfilled oil there are at a large number a metal shaving and products of wear, it indicates existence of zadir, for example, in bearings of a bent shaft and conrod bearings. For an exception of damages after the made repairs it is necessary to clear oil channels and hoses carefully. It is in addition necessary if is available, to replace the oil heater.

| 7. Then it is necessary to screw a drain stopper with a new sealing ring. It is not necessary to exceed the inhaling moments specified in Specifications, otherwise it can lead to violation of tightness and damages. |
| 8. Lower the car on wheels. |
| Replacement of an oil filter |
| Petrol engine | | 9. Turn off an oil filter. For this purpose there is a special tool, for example, a tape key of HAZET 2171-1. Collect the following oil by a rag. |
| 10. Clear fuel a flange of an oil filter at the block of cylinders. If necessary remove the remained consolidation of the filter. |
| 11. Cover a rubber sealing ring on a new oil filter with a thin layer of pure motive oil. |
| 12. Wrap manually a new oil filter. If consolidation of the filter adjoins to the block of cylinders, tighten the filter on 1/2 turns. Observe the instructions given on the filter. |
| Diesel engine | | 13. Turn off a cover-1-on the filter case, for example, a tape key or a key of VW-3417. | | 14. Replace the filtering element-4-, and also sealing rings-2-and-3-on a filter cover. |

ATTENTION At the first start of a turbodiesel after replacement of oil it is necessary to watch that the engine at first worked on single turns, the control lamp of pressure of oil will not go out yet. Only after achievement of necessary pressure of oil it is possible to increase gas. If gas is given at the burning control lamp, owing to insufficient amount of oil the turbocompressor can be damaged.

| 17. Open a cover and pour in new oil in a jellied mouth of a head of cylinders. |
ATTENTION It is recommended to fill in oil 0.5 l smaller at first. Warm up the engine and in a few minutes, by means of the index, check oil level, if necessary add. Remove surplus of oil, otherwise consolidations of the engine and the catalytic converter can be damaged.
