| 1. Through the intervals of a time/distance in kilometers determined by Specifications check of level of transmission liquid has to be made. You make this procedure only after achievement by the engine of temperature provided below. |
| 2. Level of gearbox oil in the transmission of automatic transmission depends on temperature of gearbox oil. Usually level remains to constants if places of leaks are not visible. In that case there is no need for check of level of oil. It is recommended to perform this work at AUDI service station. |
| 3. Before work buy the transmission liquid specified in the subsection Current Leaving and service, and also new consolidation of a carving stopper and a new safety cap for a stopper. When checking level and replacing oil it is necessary to use goggles. |
| 4. Others tools, necessary for holding this procedure, are support for fixing of the car in the lifted state, the drain capacity not less than 4-5 liters, newspapers and pure rags. |
ATTENTION At the transmission which is not filled with oil to start the engine it is not allowed. Also without ATF oil towage of the car is not allowed.
At work it is necessary to monitor respect for purity as even insignificant pollution result in malfunctions in work of AT carefully.

| 5. The car and reliably establish to Poddomkratta it on support. |
ATTENTION Temperature of gearbox oil at control of level should not be higher + than 30 °C. This temperature is reached after short operation of the engine. HUNDRED AUDIS for control of temperature attach the diagnostic unit. Without use of this device temperature can be estimated only approximately.

| 6. When checking ATF oil its temperature should not be above +30 °C. |
| 7. The selector of switching of the modes has to be in situation "P", the conditioner and heating have to be switched off. |
| 8. Substitute capacity for collecting ATF oil. Turn out a stopper (the shooter on an accompanying illustration). The oil which is in an overflow pipe will drip. |
| 9. Cut through bokorezam a sealing ring at a carving stopper and replace it. |
| 10. Start the engine and let's it work so that temperature of oil reached +35 °C. |
11. If in the range of temperatures of +35 °C and +45 °C oil follows from an overflow pipe, the level of oil is normal. In this case screw a stopper with new laying and tighten the moment 15 N of m.
If oil does not follow, add ATF. |
| Check of a condition of oil |
12. When checking level of oil in automatic transmission also check a condition of oil. For simplification of check of a condition of oil compare color, a smell and viscosity of oil to new oil.
If oil in transmission has dairy color, so water got to it. It can occur at continuous operation of the car on short trips. If color of oil does not change after a long trip, it is necessary to replace oil. |
| 13. If oil has dark brown color and sticky, it can be because of an overheat of the transmission or too high level of oil in a box. If replacement of oil does not yield result, the car needs to be presented to the specialized workshop AUDI.
If when checking level or replacing oil in an automatic box presence of particles of dirt or metal shaving comes to light, it is necessary to make diagnostics or repair of the automatic transmission at specialized service station AUDI. |

| 14. Suspend the tank with ATF of the required specification at a cowl. On an illustration the V.A.G 1924 tank and the diagnostic unit for control of temperature of V.A.G 1551 is shown. |
| 15. Hook the screw-driver and remove a safety cap of a stopper (the shooter on an accompanying illustration). The cap at the same time is damaged and has to be replaced with new. It protects the place for a stopper. |
| 16. Remove a stopper from a jellied mouth. |
| 17. Install the tank for gas station of V.A.G 1924 oil and fill in ATF so that it left a control opening (an arrow on an accompanying illustration). |
| 18. Start the engine and, without starting, switch the selector of the choice of the modes. |
| 19. Delay a stopper –1– with new laying the moment of 15 N of m. |
| 20. Establish a stopper in a jellied mouth, put on a new safety cap –2– and record it. |
ATTENTION Surely replace a safety cap on new, it protects a stopper.

| 21. Switch off ignition and remove the diagnostic unit if he joined. |
