3.8.5. Removal and installation of the pallet case / replacement of sealing laying of the pallet of a case

Case pallet, oil pump, oil filter

Execution for all 4-cylinder engines identical. On an illustration the engine of 1.8 l without turbocompressor is shown. At diesel engines, unlike an illustration, the vertical oil filter is established.

Instruction: The pallet of a case has no sealing laying. For consolidation the liquid silicone sealant "K 176 404 A2" is applied.

REMOVAL
ATTENTION

Lifting operation and installations of the car on supports is connected with danger! Therefore before carrying out operation get acquainted with Poddomkrachivaniye's subsection of the car.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lift and install the car on supports. Merge motive oil, address the subsection Replacement of Motive Oil and Oil Filter.
ATTENTION

Do not do harm to the environment. Do not throw out the fulfilled oil at all and do not pour out it with household waste. Points of sale of oil accept the corresponding amount of the fulfilled oil free of charge. Therefore upon purchase of oil keep the receipt and a canister of oil for a possibility of later delivery of the fulfilled oil!

2. Wrap an opening stopper for removal of oil with a new sealing ring.
3. Turn off bolts of fastening and remove lower and side covers of a motive compartment (arrow) on the right and at the left. On an accompanying illustration execution for the petrol engine is shown. Remove the lower cover of a motive compartment at the diesel engine.
4. Diesel engine: Remove a noise cover of the pallet of a case of the engine. For this purpose turn off a bolt –1–. Press a wire a pin of a rivet –3–. Take out a rivet. The rubber plug-2-has to remain in the block of cylinders.
5. Turn off bolts of fastening of the pallet of a case a cranked key, for example, of HAZET 2528-10 and take out. If necessary for office of the pallet of a case use the rubber hammer.
INSTALLATION
6. Carefully remove from the block of cylinders by means of a shaber the sealant remains.
7. Remove the sealant remains from the case pallet by means of the rotating brush, for example, with the manual machine.
ATTENTION

At the same time use goggles. There is a danger of traumatizing by the remains of the deleted sealant.

8. Clear sealing surfaces. They should not contain oils and lubricants.
9. The pallet of a case can be installed more precisely if for the direction to screw two pins of M6 in a flange of the block of cylinders.
10. Upon purchase of AUDI-D176404 A2 sealant it is necessary to check the term of its validity. The tip of a tube needs to be cut off so that the opening with a diameter of 3 mm was formed.
ATTENTION

The case pallet after imposing of silicone sealant has to be installed within 5 min. After installation of a case sealant has to dry during time not less than 30 min. Only after that in a case it is possible to fill in oil.

11. Apply silicone sealant on pure sealing surfaces. The roller of sealant has to be 2 - 3 mm thick and around openings under bolts has to pass on inside.
12. On an illustration position of the roller of sealant on the block of cylinders is shown. Sealant is applied only on the sealing surface of the pallet of a case. At transition to a back flange sealant should be applied especially carefully.
ATTENTION

The roller of sealant should not be too thick, otherwise its surplus gets to an oil contour and litters a grid in the soaking-up pipeline of the oil pump.

13. At once establish and evenly press to the block of cylinders the case pallet the moment of 5 N of m.
14. 3 connecting bolts dvigatel-RKPP around the pallet of a case tighten the moment 45 N of m.
ATTENTION

At installation of the pallet of a case on the removed engine expose the case pallet so that it from RKPP was aflush with the block of cylinders.

15. Tighten bolts of fastening of the block of cylinders cross-wise the moment of 10 N of m, then in two steps tighten all bolts the moment of 15 NChm.
16. Diesel engine: Install a noise cover of the pallet of a case on the engine and fix it. For this purpose take out a pin from a rivet. Insert a rivet and, having pressed a pin, fix it. A bolt –1– screw the moment 20 N of m.
17. Fill in motive oil in system, at the same time address the subsection Replacement of Motive Oil and Oil Filter.
18. Establish and fix lower both side left and right covers of a motive compartment.
