6.2.11. Check, removal and installation of the traction relay of a starter

In the presence of damages of the traction relay the gear wheel of a starter does not enter a gear wreath of a flywheel. As a result of it the starter cannot start the engine. This malfunction meets more often than malfunction of the engine of a starter.

Check without removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Install the lever of gear shifting in neutral situation.
2. Check condition: The rechargeable battery has to be charged.
3. Connect накоротко the plug 30 (a thick positive cable) and 50 (a thin cable to the ignition lock) a starter. The gear wheel of a starter has to come forward (to click) and the starter has to be started. If it does not occur, remove a starter and check it in the removed state.

Check with removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a starter.
2. Connect the rechargeable battery an auxiliary cable (starting) as follows to a starter and the traction relay. Connect a negative pole of the battery to the starter case. Apply a cable from the positive plug of the battery quickly to the plug of 50 relays. The gear wheel of a starter has to come forward.
ATTENTION

The positive cable has to be attached to the plug 50 during time no more than 10 with, otherwise the winding of the relay will fuse.

3. If the gear wheel comes forward, and the starter does not rotate, the electric motor of a starter needs to be taken to repare.
4. If the gear wheel does not come forward, replace the traction relay.

REMOVAL

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a starter.
2. Turn off 2 bolts of fastening of the traction relay.
3. Disconnect and remove the traction relay from a starter.

INSTALLATION

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Cover the plane of contact (F) of a starter with the corresponding sealant.
2. Connect the traction relay to the drive lever in a starter, then fix by nuts.
3. Connect a wire to the traction relay.
4. Again check the traction relay as it is described above.
5. Establish a starter into place.
