5.1.6. Check of the fuel pump

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank.

ATTENTION

Do not use naked flame near a workplace, you do not smoke and you do not hold any strongly warmed objects. There is a danger of accident! You keep in readiness the fire extinguisher.
You monitor normal ventilation of a workplace. Fuel vapors are poisonous.
The fuel system is under pressure. When opening system fuel can escape under pressure. Collect fuel by a rag. Use goggles.

Check conditions: The rechargeable battery has to be completely charged, tension should not be less than 11.5 Century.

CHECK OF GIVING OF TENSION

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check a safety lock No. 28 of the fuel pump. Replace a faulty safety lock.
2. Quickly include a starter. The fuel pump has to start working that is short-term (about 1 c) have to be heard. At the high level of surrounding noise it is possible to ask to listen the assistant.
3. If the pump does not work, attach remote control.
4. Press the switch of remote control. If now the pump works, check the relay of the fuel pump. If the pump does not work, it is necessary to work as follows:
5. Cast away a back seat and turn off a cover of the sensor of a reserve and the fuel pump.
6. Rasstykuyte socket of the sensor of a reserve and fuel pump.
	7. Attach a diode control lamp or the voltmeter to both external contacts of the plug.
8. Include remote control. The measuring device has to show tension of the rechargeable battery (about 12 V), otherwise there is a wire breakage which should be revealed by means of the electric circuit and to eliminate.
9. If the device shows tension of the rechargeable battery, remove the fuel reserve sensor.
10. Check whether the flange and the fuel pump are connected by electric wires and whether there is a good contact of connection. Check an ohmmeter and auxiliary wires whether there is no wire breakage between the case of the sensor and the fuel pump and if necessary eliminate damage.
11. If there is no break, replace the fuel pump.
12. Install the fuel pump and the sensor of a reserve, attach electric wires.

CHECK OF PRODUCTIVITY OF THE PUMP

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Uncover the fuel tank for removal of pressure of fuel.
ATTENTION The fuel system is under pressure! Before opening of hose connections put on it a thick rag. Then carefully open a hose and take off pressure. Use at the same time goggles.
	2. Disconnect a hose of return of fuel at the fuel distributive highway for what press the button of release of quick disconnect connection. 1 – fuel supply pipeline.
3. Attach an auxiliary hose with an intermediate element to the pipeline of return of fuel from the engine and lower it in measuring capacity.
4. Attach the voltmeter to the rechargeable battery.
5. Press during 15 about the switch of remote control. At the same time consider the displayed tension of the battery and write down it.
	6. Compare pump productivity to the required value on the chart. Example: During check tension of the battery makes 12.5 Century. As tension on the fuel pump is 2 V less, than the battery tension, tension on the fuel pump makes 10.5 B (12.5 – 2 = 10.5). To this tension there corresponds pump productivity about 130 ^cm3/15 of page. ) Minimum productivity, page ^cm3/15. *) Tension on the fuel pump at the idle engine and the working pump (is about 2 V less, than battery tension).
7. If supply voltage as it should be, and productivity after all is small, check whether there are no damages of fuel pipelines or whether they are littered.
8. Check whether the fuel filter is littered. For this purpose repeat check of productivity with the new fuel filter.
9. If nevertheless the minimum productivity is not reached, remove the block of supply of fuel and check whether the filter grid is littered. If necessary clear a grid.
10. If malfunction is not found, check the backpressure valve of the fuel pump (work HUNDRED).
ATTENTION If the minimum productivity is reached, but, nevertheless, existence of malfunction in fuel supply is supposed (for example, a periodic stop of giving), check the ampermeter consumption of current the pump. The required value: max. 8 A. If current is more, replace the fuel pump. At periodic interruptions in work of fuel system it is possible to carry out an inspection at the movement of the car. For this purpose the assistant is required.
11. Remove remote control and insert into place a safety lock No. 28.
12. Screw a cover of the fuel tank.
13. Put into place a back seat.
