4.1. Engine cooling system

Contour of cooling of the engine with a turbocompressor of 1.8 l

1 – radiator
2 – oil heater
3 – the pump cooling the liquid/thermostat
4 – head/side of cylinders
5 – broad tank
6 – turbocompressor
7 – inlet pipeline
8 – heater radiator
9 – ATF radiator
Only at models with automatic transmission

The contour of cooling of other engines is constructed by the same principle.

Until the engine is heated-up, cooling liquid circulates only in a head and the block of cylinders and in the heat exchanger of a heater of salon. At increase of temperature of cooling liquid the thermostat opens a big contour of cooling. Cooling liquid goes through a radiator constantly working pump. Liquid passes through a radiator from top to down and is cooled with the air passing through it.

For increase in efficiency of cooling in system the fan operated depending on temperature is installed.
Control is exercised from the two-level thermoswitch screwed at the left at a broad tank of a radiator. At a temperature of cooling liquid from +92 ° to 97 °C the thermoswitch includes the first step of the fan (a half from full speed). If temperature of cooling liquid increases from +99 ° up to 105 °C, the fan turns on on full speed.

Thanks to the fact that the fan works not constantly, and also existence of thermostatic regulation of a stream of cooling liquid the working temperature of the engine is reached quicker and fuel consumption decreases.
ATTENTION

The electric fan can turn on at the switched-off ignition. Owing to thermal stagnation in a motive compartment perhaps repeated turning on of the fan. Way of elimination: Rasstykuyte radiator fan socket.
