6.1.3. Checks of system of ignition and injection

General check of system of ignition

Special devices are necessary for systematic search and elimination of malfunctions. These devices, as a rule, are available on HUNDRED. Therefore here only the main checks are described:

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check tension and a condition of a charge of the rechargeable battery, at the same time address the subsection Check of the Rechargeable Battery.
2. Check all safety locks.
3. Rasstykuyte and again join all shtekerny connections relating to an electronic control system of the engine. Check the provision of shtekerny connections and fixing of cables in a motive compartment.
4. Check reliability of connections with weight.
5. Check tightness of hoses and pipelines. Pay attention to damage of hoses. Fix unreliably joined connections.
6. Check all high-voltage wires for reliability of landing. The damaged isolation can lead to breakdown of a spark on weight.
7. On engine distributor cover inside with a working volume of 1.6 l there can be leakages of high voltage. They can be revealed on thin black lines between contacts.
8. To check whether tension or current moves on system of ignition, follow recommendations below, but we will notice that existence of current not necessarily means presence of sufficient tension.
Check of giving of current

The voltmeter is necessary for check:

First, check the corresponding safety lock (No. 32).
Engines of 1.6 l
9. Remove the plug from the output cascade of system of ignition near the ignition coil.
10. Connect the voltmeter between contact 1 positive and contact 3 (weight).
11. Include ignition and check that the voltmeter shows tension close to tension of the rechargeable battery. If it not so, then check a wire up to the switch (lock) of ignition.
The engine of 1.8 l without turbocompressor
12. Uncover in the middle of the engine and disconnect the plug from the output (terminal) cascade.
13. Connect the voltmeter to the average plug 4a and to "weight". Include ignition. Tension has to correspond to tension of the rechargeable battery approximately. If it not so, check a wire up to the ignition switch.
The engine of 1.8 l with a turbocompressor
14. Make the same with that difference that the voltmeter has to be connected between contact of a black (blue) wire and brown (yellow) wire. Results of measurements have to be same, as well as at the ordinary engine without turbocompressor.
Check of the coil (coils) of ignition

For different engines it is necessary to perform different operations.
Engine of 1.6 l
15. First of all it is necessary to check appearance of the coil of ignition. At the fused coil the melted weight for filling of the coil sometimes can act.
16. The ohmmeter with a possibility of measurement of high resistance is necessary for measurement.
17. Switch off ignition and disconnect a wire from connection.
18. Measure by an ohmmeter resistance between plugs 1 and 15. Resistance of primary winding which has to be 0.5–1.5 Ohms Izmeryaemtsya.
19. Connect an ohmmeter between plugs 15 and 4. The measured resistance of a secondary winding has to make 5–9 kOhm.
20. If the specified sizes of resistance do not correspond to measured, it is necessary to replace the ignition coil. It is also possible to check the coil of ignition and in a workshop.
The engine of 1.8 l without turbocompressor

At this engine of the coil of ignition and the output cascade are connected with each other. Only rough check in the assumption is possible that tension is given (the engine is uncovered):
21. Disconnect all plugs from injectors.
22. Disconnect the plug from the output cascade and connect a test lamp to one of external contacts and with "weight". Turn the engine a starter and check that the lamp blinked.
23. Carry out the same inspection on other contact. The lamp has to blink again.
24. If blinkings are not observed, then malfunction can be in the following details:

– Connections of wires;
– Control unit;
– Sensors.
25. For replacement it is necessary to check system in a workshop to establish the exact reason.
The engine of 1.8 l with a turbocompressor

At this engine check ignition coils again (an inspection of the output cascade is carried out separately).
26. Disconnect all plugs from injectors. If when checking giving of current and tension it is established that one candle does not work, then it is necessary to trade places of the coil of ignition. If the spark does not become on other candle, then the coil is faulty. Completely to make sure of it, it is necessary to connect a spark plug to other coil since the candle can also have damage.
27. If there is no result now, disconnect the plug of the corresponding cylinder and measure tension between contacts. For this purpose connect the voltmeter between both external contacts of the plug and include ignition. The voltmeter has to show tension of the rechargeable battery. If it not so, then is available a rupture of a power-supply circuit to the plug.
28. Connect a control (test) lamp to contacts 2 and 3 plugs and include ignition and a starter. If the lamp does not blink, it is necessary to check all system in a workshop.
Check of the switchboard of ignition

At engines 1.8l without turbocompressor the switchboard was already checked together with ignition coils. At other engines check is made separately.
Engine of 1.6 l

The switchboard is near the ignition coil. For check make the following:
29. Remove the plug from the output cascade and connect the voltmeter between plugs 2 and 3
30. Turn the engine a starter and check that the voltmeter showed tension not less than 2 Century.
31. If it is not a hook, it is necessary to replace together the coil of ignition and the output cascade, previously having checked them in a workshop.
The engine of 1.8 l with a turbocompressor

Connection of the switchboard of system of ignition is carried out by two plugs which are checked differently. One plug has 5 contacts, another 4 contacts. They are established at the left and on the right on the switchboard.
32. Disconnect plugs from all injectors.
33. Disconnect the 4-contact plug from the output cascade (under a cover of the case of the air filter). Contacts of the plug are located one after another from left to right. Connect one wire of a LED sampler to "weight".
34. Other wire of a sampler consistently connect 1, 2, 3 and 4 plugs to contacts, including at the same time a starter. At all checks the light-emitting diode has to blink. If it not so, then are malfunctions. Thrust the plug into place.
35. Remove the 5-contact plug. Contacts of the plug settle down one after another from left to right.
36. Consistently connect a free wire of a LED sampler to contacts 1, 2, 4 and 5, including at the same time a starter (the contact 3 in the plug plays a role of "weight"). The light-emitting diode at these four checks has to blink. It means that the entrance signal arrives on the switchboard.
37. If the described check yielded negative result, then it is necessary to replace the switchboard.
Check of the sensor of Hall

As it was already specified, Hall's sensor at engines of 1.8 l is on the forward party of a head of cylinders, directly over a gear belt. During the normal work the electronic control system of the engine determines by a signal from Hall's sensor the ignition moment for the first cylinder. If the signal does not arrive, then cylinders cannot long work with adjustment of a detonation. In this case the system of adjustment of a detonation does not work, the ignition moment is late a little to prevent a detonation. To check Hall's sensor, it is necessary to work as follows:
38. Disconnect plugs of injectors.
39. Having removed a protective cover of a gear belt, it is possible to see Hall's sensor. The plug is below. Extend the rubber plug on the plug of the sensor of Hall back (the plug remains put on the sensor).
40. Connect a LED sampler of tension to contacts 1 and 2 from the back party. For this purpose contacts are marked on the back party of the plug with figures. Include a starter for several seconds. At every second turn of the engine the light-emitting diode has to flash for a short time.
41. Remove the plug from Hall's sensor and include ignition.
42. Connect the voltmeter between contacts 1 and 3 plugs. Value of tension has to be 4.5 – 5.5 Century.
43. Now connect the voltmeter between contacts 2 and 3 plugs. Tension has to make 4.3 - 5.2 Century.
44. If values of tension correspond specified, but the light-emitting diode blinks, it is necessary to replace Hall's sensor. If values of the measured tension do not correspond specified, then malfunction in connections of wires. Eliminate in a workshop.
Check of the RPM meter of the engine

The sensor of speed is over a gear wreath of a flywheel. The ohmmeter is necessary for its check.
45. Disconnect the plug from the speed sensor (the gray plug).
46. On inside of the plug connect an ohmmeter to contacts 1 and 2 (No. 1 – at the left). Value of resistance has to be 480–1000 Ohms. If the measured resistance goes beyond these limits, then it is necessary replace the sensor.
47. If resistance meets standard, connect an ohmmeter between contacts 1 and 3 and between contacts 2 and 3. The ohmmeter has to show infinity, otherwise replace the sensor.
48. If all details are serviceable, then there can be a break of a wire.

Check of the sensor of a detonation

On the engine of 1.6 l only one sensor of a detonation is installed. Electric check of this sensor is impossible. Malfunctions can be defined by poll of memory of the device of diagnostics with use of special devices. Plugs are behind a broad tank of the cooling system and can be checked for existence of corrosion or other external damages. You perform all other works in a workshop.
